
ACU drops defensive battle on the road

THIBODAUX, La.— The Wildcats are on the road for the second weekend in a row and their first stop was to face Nicholls on Thursday night. Both teams were 2-2 coming into the weekend and were looking to get back above .500. The match was a battle, but the Colonels edged the Wildcats in four sets.
Set one was a back and forth affair from the beginning but the Wildcats were able to edge the Colonels in the first set behind a .303 hitting percentage in the set. The second set was much the same as the teams traded points, but it was Nicholls who found the edge late to tie up the match. Set three saw the Wildcats struggle offensively and Nicholls was able to capitalize on ACU mistakes. The Wildcats bounced back in set four, but the momentum was in favor of the Colonels who closed out the match 25-20.
Madison Rohre had a great night running the offense for ACU, earning her second double-double of the season, behind 43 assists and 14 digs. Marybeth Sandercox is continuing her tear over the last six matches, she hit .500 for the match totaling a career-high 16 kills. Eighmy Dobbins led the team with 15 digs but four other Wildcats also totaled double-digit digs on the night.
