ABILENE – The University of Houston's 49th-ranked women's tennis team Friday shut out Abilene Christian, 4-0, at the Eager Tennis Center to snap the Wildcats' four-game winning streak.
The Cougars' 54th-ranked doubles duo of Sveva Mazzari and Tsveta Dimitrova helped their side win the doubles point by coming back from a 3-1 deficit at the No. 1 line, while in singles they each won close matches at the top two positions.
Dimitrova held off Wildcat senior
Lucile Pothier, 6-4, 7-6 (7) at No. 1 and Mazzari bested senior
Whitney Williams, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2. The Wildcats also suffered a defeat at No. 5, where Ana Glumac topped
Ileana Mocciola, 6-4, 6-1.
ACU nearly earned three points in its unfinished matches.

Autumn Crossnoe won the second set and was tied 1-1 in the third with Lauren Alter at No. 3, while at No. 4, freshman
Nini Memishishi was up 3-2 in the third after winning the second set, 6-3, over Constanden Nicolaou.

Jordan Henry almost won the Wildcats a point at No. 6, but her match was stopped with her ahead 3-6, 6-1, 5-1 on Laura Bernardos.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday for an 11 a.m. home match vs. their Southland Conference rivals from Central Arkansas.
