No. 18 Baylor sweeps MTEN in doubleheader

WACO - The 18th-ranked Baylor Bears won both their dual matches vs. Abilene Christian by the same 7-0 score Saturday afternoon at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.

The two defeats dropped ACU's season record to 8-7, while the Bears, which claim two nationally ranked singles competitors and doubles teams, improved to 9-3.

Baylor swept all six doubles matches and won all 12 singles competitions in straight sets with the closest matches taking place at the top line. 

ACU junior Josh Sheehy, who cracked the national rankings at No. 111 in the Feb. 7 ITA poll, lost 6-4, 6-4 to No. 39 Johannes Schretter in the first dual, and 6-4, 6-3 to No. 74 Bjoern Petersen. He and his younger brother Jonathan also lost a close doubles match at No. 1 in the nightcap, 7-5, to the team of Akos Kotorman and Constantin Frantzen.

The Wildcats return to action Monday, Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. for the start of Southland Conference play at Nicholls.
