ABILENE – Abilene Christian women's tennis won nine of 20 matches over three days of competition at the ITA Texas Regionals hosted by Texas A&M.

Senior Autumn Crossnoe Bellow advanced the furthest through the main draw in reaching the third round of a 128-woman bracket, while sophomore Nini Memishishi rebounded from a first-round loss to reach the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket.

Bellow's run started with a 6-4, 6-1 decision vs. Incarnate Word's Jelena Dordan and continued with a three-set upset triumph over Sam Houston State's 24th seeded Sahaja Yamalapalli, 7-5, 1-6, 1-0. Unfortunately, she would lose her next match to another Southland Conference rival – Texas A&M's Corpus Christi's Marina Miquel, 6-2, 6-1.

Memishishi won her opening two consolation matches. First she whipped Stephen F. Austin's Gabriela Guilarte, 6-2, 6-1, and later held on to defeat North Texas' Haruka Sasaki, 7-5, 6-7 (3), 1-0 before bowing out against Rice's Priya Niezgoda, 6-0, 6-3.

The Wildcats won four of six first-round main draw singles matches as additional victories were scored by junior Sarah Eleanor Adams and freshmen Allison Stewart and Sylvia Viljoen. Adams defeated Rishona Lewis of Texas State, 6-0, 6-4, while the newcomers each topped competition from Prairie View A&M.

Senior Jordan Henry also won one match in consolations, defeating Armelle Cerdan of SFA, 6-3, 6-1. 

Five ACU victories were against Southland Conference opposition – one vs. UIW and Sam Houston State and three against SFA. The Wildcats recorded their third win vs. the Ladyjacks in the first round of doubles, where Adams and Stewart crushed Kaja Ljubic and Guilarte, 6-1.

Adams and Stewart were then beat by the same score in the second round by Rice's fifth-seeded team of Victoria Smirnova and Anna Bowtell. 

ACU's spring season starts Tuesday, Jan. 15 vs. North Texas with an 11 a.m dual match in Plano.
