ABILENE – Abilene Christian women's tennis once again begins its spring season this weekend (Jan. 13-15) in Bloomington, Ind. for the IU Winter Invitational. This year's field is the biggest the Wildcats have been part of since starting their annual sojourn to southern Indiana in 2014, and features teams from Colorado, Marquette, Wright State, DePaul and Mississippi State, which is receiving votes in the first ITA poll of the spring.
Colorado's Linda Huang – ranked 54th nationally in singles – is the only ranked player slated to compete.
Competition begins Saturday at 10 a.m. with two rounds of doubles followed by three rounds of singles. There will be three rounds each of doubles and singles Saturday, and four rounds of doubles Monday.
The Wildcats have just seven players on their spring roster led by seniors and previous all-Southland Conference honorees
Lucile Pothier and
Whitney Williams. ACU also has back juniors
Autumn Crossnoe and
Jordan Henry, sophomore
Sarah Eleanor Adams, and freshmen
Nini Memishishi and
Ileana Mocciola.
