Memorial service for Elise Ybarra set for Friday

ABILENE – The memorial service for Abilene Police Department Det. Elise Ybarra, who died Sunday evening in a traffic accident, has been set for Friday morning.
Det. Ybarra – the wife of ACU head athletics trainer Adam Ybarra – was killed during a crash while she and two other detectives, Robert Collins and Chris Milliron, were their way to Dallas for the Crimes Against Children Conference. Her service has been set for 10 a.m. Friday at Beltway Park (south campus) with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick of Zion Luterhan Church officiating.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said Det. Ybarra was driving slowly down the eastbound lanes of the interstate due to traffic from a previous accident when her car was struck by another vehicle, which was traveling at highway speed just after 6 p.m.
Detective Ybarra passed away at the scene from the injuries she suffered in the crash. She leaves behind her husband, Adam, and 11-month-old daughter, Noelle.
At the family's direction, Det. Ybarra's remains will be cremated, therefore there will be no visitation, no traditional police funeral procession, and no graveside services. The family will be escorted to the service by the Abilene Police Department's Traffic Division, to include police motorcycles and marked units. The escort will begin at 9:00 am. The APD welcomes citizens to join them in a show of support and honor the family by lining the escort route to the service.
The route will be as follows:
Beginning at South 14th and Sylvan, the escort will drive west on South 14th, through Texas Avenue to the intersection of Highway 277 South and Dub Wright Blvd. The procession will then drive south on Dub Wright to the intersection to Rebecca Lane and Buffalo Gap Rd. The route will turn south on Buffalo Gap Rd at Rebecca and travel south to Beltway South. The escort will then turn east on Beltway South and proceed to Beltway Park Church.
The family welcomes members of our community to attend the service, but respectfully request that everyone refrain from recording the service. There will be no videotaping allowed inside the church building. Also no photography will be allowed inside the service other than those persons authorized by the family.
