ABILENE — Once again this year, ACU Athletics will host a Wildcat Caravan stop in Abilene with this year's event scheduled for Monday, July 31, at Rosa's Tortilla Factory on Judge Ely Blvd.
The fajita buffet is $14 per person and fans can pre-register at alumniassociation.acu.edu. The lunch is set for three days before the ACU football begins summer practice in preparation for the 2017 season. The Wildcats' first practice will be on Aug. 3 with the first game of the season set for Saturday, Sept. 2, at New Mexico. Two weeks later, ACU will open Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium by hosting Houston Baptist in a 6 p.m. game.
The ACU volleyball and women's soccer teams also begin preparations for their respective seasons in early August with both teams coming off third-place finishes last year in the Southland Conference. Casey Wilson is entering his 11th season as the head women's soccer coach, while Angela Mooney is in her first season as the volleyball head coach.
Those in attendance will hear from director of athletics Lee De Leon, as well as first-year head football coach Adam Dorrel and several other head coaches. Fans will have a chance to not only hear from the director of athletics and head coaches, they'll also have a chance to join the Wildcat club or renew their membership, and they'll also have an opportunity to buy football season tickets.
