ABILENE -- Tuesday night's game ACU baseball game against No. 3 TCU was suspended in the top of the fifth inning because of heavy lightning in the area surrounding Crutcher Scott Field.
The game will be finished on May 2 at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth, but the regularly scheduled game between the two teams that night might not be played.
TCU led the Wildcats 2-0 when the game was suspended in the top of the fifth with two outs and a runner on third for the Horned Frogs. TCU got on the board in the first on a sacrifice fly by Evan Skoug, driving in Austen Wade for the game's first run.
The Horned Frogs added to their lead in the second when Elliott Barzilli turned on a pitch from Nick Skeffington and lined it over the fence in left field for a home run and a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats had a couple of chances to score in their first four at-bats, but left runners on the corners in the second, a runner at first in the third and runners at first and second with one out in the fourth.
The Wildcats (9-10 overall and 1-5 in the Southland Conference) will return to league play this weekend when they travel to Nacogdoches to take on Stephen F. Austin in a three-game set. The series will start Friday at 6:30 p.m. with Saturday's game scheduled for a 2 p.m. start and Sunday's series-finale set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
