LUBBOCK, Texas - ACU junior
Hunter Holman scored a victory against his old team Friday night, winning the No. 4 match for the Wildcats in their 6-1 loss at Texas Tech's McLeod Tennis Center.
The win lifted Texas Tech's record to 4-5, while the Wildcats fell to 5-6.
Holman has been the Wildcats' hottest player as of late with his straight set victory over Pyry Hyrkkonen, 6-3, 6-2, serving as his ninth consecutive triumph after starting the year at 0-3.
Unfortunately, Holman's teammates all fell in straight sets to the Red Raiders in singles play and dropped the doubles point with the No. 1 team falling, 6-1, and the No. 3 duo dropping a 6-3 decision. The No. 2 match was left unfinished with the Wildcats' tandem of Joshua Sheehy and
Sebastian Langdon leading 4-3.
The Wildcats return to action in two weeks with a road match at Baylor. ACU's women's team plays at home Saturday vs. Hardin-Simmons (8 a.m.) and Southern Nazarene (noon).
