Men's Tennis goes undefeated at Air Force, beat Falcons, 4-3

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Abilene Christian men's tennis climbed above the .500 mark Saturday with its second consecutive doubleheader sweep in as many days competing at the United States Air Force Academy. The Wildcats began their day with a 6-1 win over Northern Colorado, and then held on to a 4-3 victory vs. the host Falcons with junior Hunter Holman scoring the match-clinching point at No. 5.

ACU started its dual with the Falcons ahead 2-0 thanks to the doubles point and a straight-set victory at No. 2 by Nico Agritelley. Air Force countered with victories at the No. 4 and 1 positions to tie the score at 2-2, and then freshman Jonathan Sheehy brought the lead briefly back to the Wildcats after edging Max Olson in three sets, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.

The Falcon earned their final point at the No. 6 line, where Mack Galvin beat Paul Michael Domanski, 6-1, 6-4, but Holman topped Tadhg Collins in the first set, 7-6, before cruising in the second, 6-1.

The Wildcats also went 4-0 at this same tournament last season with wins coming against the Falcons, Metro State, Northern Colorado and No. 53 UC Davis.

Against the Bears Saturday, ACU swept doubles by scores of 6-4, 7-6, and 6-2, and captured five of six singles contest with victories earned by Josh and Jonathan Sheehy, Agritelley, Holman and Domanski.

The Wildcats remain on the road next weekend, heading to southwest Ohio and Kentucky to play Wright State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky and Northern Kentucky. ACU will play doubleheaders on Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28.
