HOUMA, La. - Abilene Christian women's tennis bounced back from Tuesday's 4-3 loss at Southeastern with a convincing 6-1 win over Nicholls Wednesday afternoon at the Renaissance Family Fitness Center. The Wildcats won the doubles point and five of six singles contests to improve to 12-5 overall and 2-1 within the Southland Conference.

The Colonels, meanwhile, fell to 3-11 overall and remain winless against the league at 0-5.

The Wildcats started today's dual winning at No. 1 and 2 doubles. Junior Erin Walker and sophomore Whitney Williams edged Milou Pietersz and Julia Melendez, 6-4, while at No. 2, sophomore Lucile Pothier and senior Kaysie Hermsdorf pitched their first shutout together, blanking Ambika Pande and Clemence Krug, 6-0.

ACU's No. 3 team of sophomore Andrea Crook and senior Nada Marjanovic, unfortunately, fell to Laia Charles and Isla Brock, 6-3.

Marjanovic, however, would go on to win in singles along with Hermsdorf, Pothier, Williams and freshman Jordan Henry, who was in at No. 6 today.

Marjanovic and Pothier each won in straight sets at the No. 4 and 3 positions to keep their win streaks alive at seven matches apiece. Pothier beat  Krug, 6-3, 6-3, for her 13th win of the spring, and Marjanovic improved to 16-2 following a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Brock.

Williams lifted her season singles mark to 10-5 after topping Charles, 6-2, 6-3 for her fourth-consecutive victory. And Henry at No. 6 snapped a short two-match losing streak at that position for the Wildcats with a 6-1, 6-2 win vs. Andrea Mastrippolito.

ACU's matches at No. 1 and 2 each were decided in three sets. Hermsdorf broke a three-match losing streak vs. DI opposition with her comeback win at No. 2 over Melendez, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6, but Walker fell at No. 1 to Pietersz, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.

The Wildcats return to action Friday for a 10 a.m. dual at New Orleans as part of a doubleheader with the men's team, however, both matches may be affected by rain.
