ABILENE - In its first action since earning a national ranking from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, No. 66 Abilene Christian men's tennis lost 6-1 at 34th-ranked Baylor before heading north to SMU, where the Wildcats defeated Eastern Washington of the Big Sky Conference by the same margin.

ACU's record is 11-5 following the dual-city doubleheader split and will return home this Friday, March 6 to play host to Temple and McMurry.

The Wildcats' lone double winner today was sophomore Henry Adams. The San Antonio native defeated Baylor's Tyler Stayer at the No. 6 line, 6-4, 6-3, and then improved to 7-6 on the spring after toppling EWU's Luke Ness, 6-3, 6-4.

ACU's win over Eastern Washington also included its first doubles sweep since Jan. 30 in addition to five singles victories, four of which were in straight sets. Sophomore Paul Domanski was the exception as he beat his opponent at No. 5, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Baylor started the year ranked No. 4 and was the fifth nationally-ranked DI opponent faced by the Wildcats this spring.

The Bears certainly seemed to play well above their current mid-30's ranking as No. 26 Julian Lenz handed freshman No. 1 Josh Sheehy only his third loss of the season (and first in straight sets), and at No. 2, junior Nico Agritelley was defeated, 6-1, 6-1 by No. 62 Max Tchoutakian.

Senior Jason Proctor nearly pulled off an upset at No. 3, but No. 122 Felipe Rios held on for a 6-1, 5-7, 11-9 decision. Proctor later battled throughout a three-set loss to EWU's Eduardo Bringold, 6-3, 2-6, 12-10.
