ABILENE – Abilene Christian men's tennis will play host to the Kangaroos of Missouri – Kansas City Friday at noon on the outdoor courts of the Eager Tennis Pavilion. The match time forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 69 degrees. Free Dr. Pepper will be served.
The Wildcats enter this dual at 9-4 following a 1-2 weekend in which a 6-1 win over Trinity was sandwiched in between a 4-3 loss to Tyler Junior College and a 7-0 defeat at 14th-ranked Texas Tech.
During the loss to the Red Raiders, three Wildcats lost in three sets including freshman
Josh Sheehy who saw his winning streak at No. 1 singles snapped at 10 matches.
Sheehy still leads ACU with a 10-2 record, and the Wildcats' combined singles record is an impressive 45-30 (.600). Sophomores
Paul Domanski (7-4) and
Hunter Holman (7-5) also have winning marks in singles competition; however, doubles has been a mixed bag for the Wildcats and they come into today's dual at 18-18 (.500), having lost four-consecutive doubles points.
UMKC is off to a 3-1 start with its most recent decision a 6-1 loss at Nebraska. The Kangaroos defeated the Wildcats, 4-3, last season in Kansas City with wins coming at No. 1, 2, 4 and 6 singles. Senior
Jason Proctor won at No. 3 singles and Domanksi was victorious at No. 5 following a pair of 7-5 doubles wins at No. 2 and 3.
