ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's tennis kicked off the spring portion of its 2015-16 slate Sunday with a victory and defeat at Oklahoma State's Greenwood Tennis Center.

The Wildcats began their day with a 5-2 win vs. Oral Roberts, but then lost to three nationally ranked singles players and one top-25 doubles team from the 12th-ranked Cowgirls in a 6-1 loss.

ACU's lone point vs. Oklahoma State was earned by senior Nada Marjanovic, who went 2-0 today at the No. 4 position. She first topped ORU's Andrada Gordan, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5), and in the afternoon rallied from a set down to defeat Oklahoma State newcomer Katarina Stresnakova, 3-6, 7-6, 1-0.

Marjanovic has been part of the Wildcats' starting lineup since her freshman year of 2013 and is one singles' win away from the 50th of her collegiate career (49-12, .803).

Further up the lineup, ACU's top three singles players: Erin Walker, Kaysie Hermsdorf and Lucile Pothier lost to #27 Katarina Adamovic, #38 Vladica Babic and #46 Viktoriya Lushkova, respectively, with all three Wildcats capturing three points in the second set.

ACU was swept by Oklahoma State in doubles as well with the No. 1 doubles team of 23rd-ranked Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari leading the way with a 6-3 win over Walker and Whitney Williams.

The Wildcats fared quite well against their former Southland Conference rivals from Oral Roberts, winning all three doubles matches and four of six singles contests. ACU's No. 1 and 3 doubles tandems of Walker/Williams and Ansley Boarman/Marjanovic each won 6-1, while the No. 2 duo of Hermsdorf and Pothier doubled up the team of Andrada Gordan/Petya Simeonova, 6-3.

Straight-set victories in singles were earned at the No. 1, 3, 4 and 5 positions by Walker, Pothier, Marjanovic and Williams. The Wildcats held their Golden Eagle opposition to one point in three of the eight sets, while Williams beat Brenda Mercado Jove, 6-2, 6-0.

The Wildcats return to action this weekend, Jan.  17-18, for the annual Indiana University Invitational. ACU has played there the last two seasons vs. teams from Harvard, Oregon and Marquette in addition to the host Hoosiers.
