VENTURA COUNTY, Calif.
- The Abilene Christian tennis program won 16 of 19 matches played Friday at the 115th Annual Ojai Valley Tournament and has six individuals and three doubles teams still alive for a major title within the Independent College Division.

Three of the five Wildcat men's competitors were double winners today to reach the quarterfinals. Sixth-seeded sophomore Nico Agritelley followed a 6-1, 6-2 win over Biola's Luke Mountain with a 6-4, 6-0 triumph against Rohan Shankar of Claremont Mudd Scripps. Agritelley will next be pitted against top-seeded Felix Schueller of Grand Canyon in Saturday's quarterfinals.

On the bottom half of the bracket junior Jason Proctor opened with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Biola's Brandon Chang and later upset Westmont's seventh-seed Jan Sibbel, 6-0, 6-4, to reach the quarters.

Proctor's next opponent is No. 4 seed Adrian Legarreta of Grand Canyon.

Second-seeded senior Guilherme Gesser opened with a bye and defeated Hope's Anthony Sena, 6-2, 6-1 in their Round of 16 match. He is scheduled to play junior teammate Marco Bensley in their quarterfinal. A South Africa native, Bensley today defeated Cal Lutheran's Jesper Lunding Johanssen, 6-2, 6-3, before eliminating GCU's Mitchell Maroscher in three sets, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5.

In men's doubles action, ACU's second-seeded duo of Agritelley and Gesser reached the semifinals following their convincing 6-0, 6-2 win over San Diego Christian's Alessandro Moriana and Daniel Superlano.

Proctor and freshman Henry Adams won their first-round match vs. a team from Hope, 7-5, 6-4, but lost in the quarters to No. 1 seed Brendan Aguilar and Leonardo Urquidi of San Diego Christian, 6-4, 6-2.

Still alive in the women's singles bracket following two rounds today are senior Brittney Reed and sophomore Erin Walker.

Reed - the No. 3 seed - won both her contests in straight sets, toppling No. 12 Laina Matsuda of La Verne, 6-4, 6-2, and GCU's Lana Rinaldi, 6-3, 7-5 in the quarterfinals. Reed's semifinal opponent Saturday will be Westmont's top-seeded Lauren Stratman.

Walker's route today included a shutout victory over 11th-seeded Meagan Zamilpa of Whittier and 6-1, 6-1 triumph over fourth-seeded Caroline Ward of Claremont Mudd Scripps.

Walker and freshman teammate Lucile Pothier also knocked off Ward in doubles as she her teammate - the tournament's top seeds - fell to the Wildcats, 6-4, 6-2. Next up for Walker and Pothier is a semifinal match against fourth-seeded Bridget Echegaray and Matsuda of La Verne.

Hermsdorf and Reed also made it to the semis after ousting the Whittier combo of Zamilpa and Gabi Echegaray, 6-0, 6-3.

Awaiting Walker in their singles semifinals is No. 2 seed Tatum Prudhomme of Grand Canyon, who survived a three-set war against ACU junior Nada Marjanovic in the quarterfinals, 7-6 (2), 6-7 (2), 6-4. Marjanovic also had to go to three sets against Hermsdorf in their Round of 16 match and ultimately prevailed, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
