COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Abilene Christian men's tennis lost its dual match to the Air Force Academy on the indoor courts of the Cadet Gym Friday afternoon, 7-0.
The Wildcats' lone victory on a frigid day on the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains was a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles, where freshman
Henry Adams and junior
Marco Bensley prevented a clean sweep for the Falcons by holding off Mark Kite and Dillon Launius, 6-4.
But earlier in the dual, the Wildcats' No. 1 team of
Jason Proctor and
Paul Domanski lost 6-2 to Lucas Fumagalli and Grant Taylor. Then afterward, Air Force claimed the doubled point when its No. 2 duo of Andrew Parks and Max Olson outlasted
Guilherme Gesser and
Nico Agritelley, 7-5.
Air Force went on to clinch the dual three matches into singles as No. 1 Taylor, No. 2 Fumagalli and No. 4 Parks all won in straight sets. Agritelley won his first set over Olson, 7-6, but then lost the next set, 6-3, and again in the super tiebreaker.
With the match decided after four singles matches, the No. 5 and 6 competitors played an eight-game pro set.
The Wildcats conclude their stay at the Air Force Academy Saturday with a 4 p.m. dual match vs. Seattle University of the WAC.
