ABILENE – The ACU men's basketball team returns to Moody Coliseum for a non-conference tilt Saturday against Schreiner University.
The Wildcats and Mountaineers are set to tip off at 1 p.m. The game can be heard on
acusports.com with "Voice of the Wildcats"
Grant Boone calling the action.
ACU is 3-5 on the season and hasn't played since a 73-63 loss to Nebraska last Saturday in Lincoln, Neb. The Mountaineers are 2-4 on the year after a 95-92 overtime loss on Saturday, Nov. 28, against LeTourneau.
After Saturday's contest, the Wildcats will be back at home Friday (Dec. 18) for a 7 p.m. game against Cal-Riverside before hitting the road to play at TCU (Sunday, Dec. 20) and at Drake (Tuesday, Dec. 22).
The Wildcats are led by freshman point guard
Jaylen Franklin, who is averaging 13.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He's the only Wildcat averaging in double figures in points per game, although
Parker Wentz (9.9 ppg),
Jovan Crnic (9.3 ppg),
Duran Porter (9.0 ppg) and
Jaren Lewis (8.1 ppg) are all close to double figures in points per game.
ACU will be without senior point guard
Jalen Little again Saturday with a knee injury. Little went down late in the loss against New Hampshire on Thursday, Dec. 3, and could be out until Southland Conference play begins at Central Arkansas on Saturday, Jan. 2.
Schreiner is led by Wes Miller, who is averaging 15.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, while Christian Pena is averaging 13.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, and Blake Kelley is averaging 12.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
