CALHOUN, La. – The ACU Wildcats posted a seventh-place team finish behind the strong debut of freshman Robert Johnson earlier this week at the Louisiana-Monroe Wallace Jones Invitational.

The Wildcats fired a final-round 310 on Tuesday to finish the 54-hole tournament at 919 (307-302-310) to finish 49 strokes behind team champion and tournament host Louisiana-Monroe (300-286-284–870). Arkansas-Little Rock was second at 881, followed by Oral Roberts in third (910), Western Texas College in fourth (914), New Orleans in fifth (916) and Nicholls in sixth (917).

Johnson – a freshman from Scotland who was his country's top-ranked prep player in 2012-13 – finished tied for 13th in the individual medalist standings in his first career tournament for the Wildcats. Johnson carded rounds of 72-75-77 for a three-round total of 8-over-par 224.

Johnson's teammate, junior Corbin Renner, finished tied for 16th at 225 (75-74-76), while senior Trey Sullivan finished tied for 23rd at 229 (77-75-77).

The Wildcats will have just two more tournaments left in spring season: April 7-8 at the Arkansas State Red Wolves Intercollegiate in Jonesboro, Ark., and then April 21-23 at the Southland Conference championship tournament in McKinney.
