Renner posts best finish of the spring at Arkansas-Little Rock tournament

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- ACU junior Corbin Renner turned in his best individual finish of the spring Tuesday as he finished tied for seventh at the Arkansas-Little Rock First Tee Classic.

As a team, the Wildcats finished 13th in a 14-team field with a three-day total of 933. ACU shot rounds of 311 and 308 on Monday before finishing up with a 314 on Tuesday.

Louisiana-Monroe won the tournament with a total of 889 after posting rounds of 287 and 297 on Monday, followed by a 305 on Tuesday. A pair of Southland Conference schools finished second and third, respectively, as Sam Houston State (295-293-305--893) was second with McNeese State (300-286-309--895) finishing third.

Lipscomb was fourth at 905, followed by Missouri State in fifth at 911.

Renner shot rounds of 76 and 71 on Monday to go into Tuesday's final round tied for 11th. He managed through the tough weather conditions to shoot a 4-over-par and finish tied for seventh at 933. Renner's best finish this spring before the tournament in Arkansas was a ninth-place finish at the Moe O'Brien Intercollegiate, Feb. 24-25, in Lake Charles, La.

Albert Miner of Sam Houston State won the individual tournament title at even-par 216 after posting rounds of 72-70-74. Martin Eriksson of McNeese State was second at 2-over-par 218.

The Wildcats will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday at the ULM/Wallace Jones Invitational at the Southern Pine Golf Club in Callahan, La.
