Null strikes out 10 in 2-0 shutout win over Prairie View A&M

Box Score

DENTON, Texas - Freshman Hannah Null tossed the second complete-game shutout of her young career Sunday, helping the Wildcats snap their losing streak at the Texas Shootout with a 2-0 win over Prairie View A&M of the SWAC.

Null scattered five hits over 7.0 innings of work and struck out a career high 10 batters in raising her season total to 42.

The Highland Village, Texas, native gave up two hits to begin the game, but left those runners stranded at first and second base as she got the next three outs on two pop ups and a K. She then struck out the side in the second and dodged another two-on, two-out jam in the third by getting the Panthers' right fielder to fly out.

Over the final four innings, Null allowed just one more base hit while striking out five, including the last three batters of the game.

ACU's offense also recorded five hits but was able to scratch out single runs in the first and sixth innings. Sophomore catcher Cara Hoover drove in freshman Taylor Brown for the game's first run on a double to left, and in the sixth, Taylor Fitzgerald ripped an RBI double to right to score Hoover, who led off with a hit by pitch.

Fitzgerald led the Wildcats today with two hits.

The Wildcats return to action Tuesday at 3 p.m. with a home doubleheader vs. crosstown rival Hardin-Simmons.
