Box Score ABILENE - Abilene Christian softball ripped six base hits and drew five walks, but left nine runners on base in falling 7-1 to Oklahoma Christian Friday night at Poly Wells Field.
The Wildcats drop to 1-2 with the loss, while the Lady Eagles improved to 2-1.
ACU put runners on base in all innings with the exception of the seventh, but simply could not bring anyone around until there were two outs in the sixth and
Anna Jones doubled home
Demi McNulty with a shot to center field.
In the inning prior, ACU had the bases loaded with one out but grounded into a 4-3 double play, and in the fourth, the Wildcats left two on with one out as OC starter Shea Coats (2-0) got
Cara Hoover to strike out followed by a fly ball to center.
Two of the first three ACU batters also reached in the third, but Coats made a fine play in throwing out the lead runner going to third base and then struck out
Courtney Flanary for one of her three punchouts.
Emily Seidel (1-1) started for the Wildcats and gave up three runs on six hits over 2.0 innings. Seidel started the third, but was removed two batters later after Niki Davidson reached on an error and Kala Ratliff singled back to the circle for one of her three hits.
Ratliff also drove in a game-high three runs, including two in the first inning on a ground ball to second in which the umpire obstructed the throw infielder
Kyla Simmons. Ratliff then made it a 4-0 game in the fourth on the first of three run-scoring plays as Courtney Starr followed with a sacrifice fly to left and Lauren Pittman with a single through the left side.
Oklahoma Christian scored its final run in the seventh on Lauren Chatigny's single to center that plated Sarah Endres.
Chatigny went 3-for-5 with a run and RBI from the leadoff spot.
Senior
Peyton Mosley tossed 5.0 innings and was charged with all three Lady Eagle runs in the fourth in addition to their insurance run in the seventh. She and Seidel each recorded one strikeout.
The Wildcats and Lady Eagles resume their series Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
