As if the Wildcats' task wasn't daunting enough in taking on one of the league's hottest teams, the Wildcats will have to do so without starting quarterback
Parker McKenzie, who suffered a concussion in last week's game against Sam Houston State. McKenzie – who threw for 352 yards against the Bearkats – leads the Southland in passing yards (2,547), yards per game (283.0 ypg), completions (197), attempts (300), percentage (65.7), efficiency (155.0) and TD passes (20).
Redshirt freshman
Kade Munden will get his first career start in McKenzie's place. Munden has completed 7 of 8 passes for 59 yards in three games worth of mop-up duty after sitting out the 2013 season as a redshirt. He'll be asked to direct the Wildcat offense against a Central Arkansas team that is averaging 50.3 points per game in five conference games and has scored 52, 49, 70 and 58 points in its four conference wins this season. Munden is officially listed as ACU's third-string quarterback behind McKenzie and true freshman
Dallas Sealey, but Munden has taken late-game snaps in blowouts so the Wildcats don't use Sealey's potential redshirt year in that situation.
If Munden goes down Saturday, it's possible that freshman transfer Miike Richardson would go into the game to finish out the contest.
Central Arkansas is the alma mater of ACU head coach
Ken Collums, who graduated from there in 1994. As a freshman in 1991, Collums led the Bears to the NAIA national championship by throwing for 844 yards and rushing for 247 yards. Collums went on to earn first team all-Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference honors in 1992, honorable mention NAIA all-America honors, second team all-Gulf South Conference honors in 1993 and academic all-GSC honors in 1994.
