Gameday
LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- The ACU Wildcats are back on the road this week as they take on the Aggies of New Mexico State, the first time the Wildcats have played an NCAA Division I FBS opponent since 1980 when they lost at Hawaii, 41-0, in the second week of the season.
Saturday night's non-conference football game between ACU and New Mexico State will be broadcast on several venues, including ESPN3.com.
Kickoff for the contest between the Wildcats (5-3) and the Aggies (0-7) is set for 7 p.m. (Central time; 6 p.m. Mountain time). The game will be played at Aggie Memorial Stadium and can be heard locally on 98.1 FM.
Glenn Cerny will be handling the play-by-play for ESPN3 with Danny Knee working as the analyst. The game will also be broadcast on Comcast-New Mexico, Comcast-Las Cruces, The CW-El Paso and Fox Sports Arizona-Plus.
The Wildcats have won two straight after three straight losses and are 5-3 on the season. One more win assures them of an eighth straight winning season. That would tie the school record set from 1939-48 (no games in 1983, 1944 or 1945 because of World War II).
The Wildcats' foe this week is a New Mexico State that is 0-7 in 2013 and has last 18 straight games dating back to the 2012 season. The Aggies' last win was a 49-19 win over Sacramento State (NCAA Division I FCS) on Aug. 30, 2012, in the season-opener.
The Aggies have lost 21 straight games to NCAA Division I FBS opponents, including last week's 45-16 setback at home against Rice. New Mexico State's last win over an FBS opponent was a 48-45 win over Fresno State on Nov. 12, 2011.
