Mosley, Wildcats complete sweep of No. 19 West Texas A&M

ABILENE – ACU sophomore pitcher Peyton Mosley finished off a dominating weekend against the nation's 19th-ranked team as she blanked West Texas A&M, 2-0, Saturday afternoon to help the Wildcats complete a three-game sweep of the Lady Buffs in a Lone Star Conference softball series at Wells Field.

The win pushes the Wildcats to 23-9 overall and 9-5 in the LSC, while the Lady Buffs fall to 23-14 and 7-8.  ACU will be back in action Thursday and Friday in Lawton, Okla., when the Wildcats take on Cameron in a three-game LSC series.

The Wildcats got the only run they would need Saturday in the bottom of the first when Keanna Winkfield led off with a double to left-centerfield and then went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Madison Buckley.  Winkfield then scored to make it 1-0 when Sara Vaughn dropped an RBI double into left-centerfield.

That was all the offense that Mosley needed as she mowed through the WT lineup for the second time in as many days on her way to a complete-game victory.  Mosley (9-5 on the season) allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out seven batters in seven innings of work.

In two games against the Lady Buffs on the weekend, Mosley held one of the nation's top offensive units to seven hit and one run (one earned run) while striking out 13 batters and walking just four Lady Buffs.

ACU added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Lyndi Smith.
