Rambelles pull away for win

ABILENE – The ACU Wildcats committed too many turnovers, went cold from the field and were outscored 18-7 over the final seven minutes of the game Saturday night as Angelo State pulled away for a 75-64 win in a Lone Star Conference women's basketball game at Junell Center.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 7-10 overall and 2-9 in the LSC, while the Rambelles improve to 10-7 and 8-3 with their second win over ACU in the last five days.  The Wildcats don't play again until Saturday when they host Texas Woman's in an LSC game at 2 p.m. at Moody Coliseum.

The Wildcats trailed by as many 10 points in the second half before rallying to tie the game at 57-57 on a pair of Kelsey Smith free throws with 7:14 to play.

But ACU's offense hit the skids in the final seven minutes as the Wildcats committed four turnovers and hit just 2 of 8 shots from the field as the Rambelles slowly pulled away for the win.

ACU sophomore guard Mack Lankford led all scorers with 22 points on 7 of 18 shooting from the floor, while freshman Sadie Dickinson poured in a career-high 16 points off the bench.  Freshman forward Paige Parliament had 10 points, while Smith finished with eight points and 11 rebounds.
