DENTON – Two ACU pitchers allowed eight walks and their defense committed a pair of errors Saturday afternoon as Texas Woman's knocked off the Wildcats, 9-4, in Lone Star Conference South Division softball action at Pioneer Field.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 22-22 overall and 7-5 in the LSC South, which puts them in third place in the division. The Pioneers, meanwhile, improve to 23-18 and 6-6.
The Pioneers took control of Saturday's contest with seven runs in the first three innings, including a four-run second inning. Those seven runs chased freshman starting pitcher
Peyton Mosley, who gave up five runs and four walks against just one hit in 1 1/3 innings of work.
Shelby Hall went the final 4 2/3 innings for the Wildcats, allowing eight hits, four runs and four walks.
Melissa Mendoza had a two-run single in the fifth for the Wildcats, while
Erin Gilliland had a solo home run in the seventh.
