Wildcats Split at TWU

DENTON – Peyton Mosely pitched four innings of scoreless relief as ACU picked up a split with Texas Woman's, 8-6 in game one and falling 8-0 in five innings in the nightcap in Lone Star Conference South Division action at Pioneer Field.
The Wildcats stay one game above .500 at 22-21 and improve to 7-4 in South Division play and are now tied in second place with Incarnate Word. TWU moves their record to 22-18 on the season and 5-6 in league play after Friday's split.
Freshman Lyndi Smith blasted a pair of home runs and finished with four RBIs as she helped the Wildcats to a game one win. 
Candice Miller also went 3-for-4 with the other four RBIs for the Wildcats with the game winning single in the sixth. Miller laced a two out single to left field scoring Tiana Tuinei and Missy Mendoza breaking a 6-6 tie and giving ACU the lead. 
Smith blasted her second home run of the game in the fourth to pull the Wildcats back to even leading off the inning.
Peyton Mosely picked up her fifth win of the season as her four innings of relief proved to be the difference. Mosely only allowed three hits as she struck out two and walked none to improve her record to 5-2 on the year.
TWU shutout the Wildcats in the night cap as Lizzy Kelly scattered five hits and held ACU scoreless in a run rule victory. The Pioneers outhit ACU 14-5 scoring in each inning for an 8-0 win in five innings.
Tiffany Weise and Addison Staley both went 3-for-3 in the win. 
Brittany Rexroat picked up the loss as she was unable to escape the third inning giving up seven runs. 
ACU will try to take the series in the rubber game tomorrow starting at 1 p.m. from Pioneer Field.
