MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 7 ACU men's tennis squad dropped a heartbreaker to the No. 3 men's team in NAIA, Auburn University at Montgomery, 6-3. The Wildcats fell to 12-8 with the loss to the NAIA power AUM sits at 16-3 after Friday's match at Lagoon Park.
ACU took an early 2-0 lead after winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles including
Hans Hach and
Alfredo Desiati knocked of the 9th-ranked NAIA doubles team of Bruno Savi and Claudio Andrade, 8-4.
Bryan Joiner and
John Strahl would also pick up a win at No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
However, the Senators would dominate singles action taking No. 1 through No. 5 action. The top five positions for AUM were all ranked individually in the top 50 including the ninth ranked Bruno Savi at No. 1 singles.
The Wildcats continue action on their trip in the Deep South as they travel to No. 13 Columbus State (Ga.) on Saturday for non-conference action.
