ABILENE – The ACU men's tennis team opened the ACU March Invite with a double-header sweep of Hardin-Simmons and Temple College both matches going 9-0 to the Wildcats Friday at the Eager Tennis Center.
ACU picked up a sweep in both doubles and singles as Jake Hendrie at No.3 and John Strahl at No. 5 were both, 6-4, 6-2 winners in the Wildcats closest matches with the Cowboys.
In the men's nightcap Cody McCarty held off Temple's Justin Delgado, 6-4, 6-3 to take the point for ACU and finish the sweep. ACU got wins from Jake Hendrie and Nick Plum at No. 1 doubles, Hans Hach and Eldad Campbell at No. 2, and in No. 3 doubles Bryan Joiner and John Strahl finished of Temple for a 9-0 victory.
The Wildcats swept the Leopards 9-0 for their second win of the day and to move to 7-4 with their third straight win. ACU will play host to New Mexico Military Institute Saturday afternoon to close out the ACU March Invite as the head coach Hutton Jones and the Wildcat tennis team will provide free Dr. Pepper to all fans at the Eager Tennis Center.
