No. 3 Pirates down ACU, 7-2

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The 10th-ranked ACU Wildcats had No. 3 Armstrong Atlantic State (Ga.) on the ropes after doubles play Thursday, but the Pirates won all six singles matches to knock off the Wildcats, 7-2, in the Las Vegas Invitational at the Darling Tennis Center.

The win pushes the Pirates to 13-0 on the season, while the Wildcats fall to 11-7 on the season.  ACU finished its trip to Las Vegas with two wins over top-10 foes before the loss on Thursday.  ACU will be back in action Sunday in Wichita Falls when it takes on Midwestern State.

The Wildcats put the Pirates in a 2-1 hole after doubles play with the biggest win coming at No. 1 doubles where ACU's Hans Hach and Jake Hendrie knocked off the nation's top-ranked doubles team in Rafael Array and Mikk Irdoja, 8-5.  ACU's No. 2 doubles tandem of Bryan Joiner and Nick Plum knocked off 20th-ranked Matus Mydia and Pedro Scocgulia, 8-4.

However, the Pirates dominated singles play, winning all six matches to win the match.  The Pirates won four quick straight-sets matches to take a 5-2 lead and then taking two three-set matches to close out the Wildcats.
