AUSTIN – The 10th-ranked ACU men's tennis team fell to 14th-ranked St. Edward's in non-conference tennis action on Sunday as they dropped a, 5-4 decision to the Hilltoppers at the Strohmeyer Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Wildcats opened doubles action taking No. 1 and No. 2 doubles with Hans Hoch and Jake Hendrie winning, 8-5 and Nick Plum/Bryan Joiner, 8-2 winners. However, ACU could only manage two wins in singles play as they fell for the first time to a Division I opponent.
Jake Hendrie picked up the Wildcats first win at No. 3 singles winning, 6-2, 6-2. ACU's other win came at No. 6 singles from Bryan Joiner with a 6-4, 6-3 winner.
ACU continues action this week over spring break competing at the Las Vegas Invitational. The Wildcats will play three top ranked teams in Division II including national tournament semifinalist Concordia College, West Florida, and Armstrong Atlantic.
