COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The 13th-ranked ACU Wildcats got their five-match road trip off to a solid start Thursday and Friday by winning two of three matches at the Air Force Academy courts.
The Wildcats beat both Colorado State-Pueblo and Metro State (Colo.) by identical 9-0 scores before losing to the Air Force Academy, 5-2, late Friday night.
In the wins over CSU-P and Metro State,
Hans Hach won at No. 1 singles in both matches and at No. 1 doubles in the win over CSU-Pubelo. The Wildcats had little trouble with Metro State, winning every match in straight sets. ACU, in fact, lost only one set in those two 9-0 wins, and that was Hach at No. 1 singles against Bruno Hurtado of CSU-Pueblo.
In the loss to Air Force, the Wildcats got wins at No. 2 singles (
Eldad Campbell) and No. 4 singles (
Jake Hendrie), but it wasn't enough as the Falcons won the doubles point with two doubles wins and then four singles victories. ACU's Hach and
Bryan Joiner won at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, over Lance Wilhelm and Andy Jackson.
The Wildcats were in action late Saturday night in Albuquerque, N.M., against New Mexico and Northern Arizona.
