Wildcats Sweep LSC Awards

RICHARDSON – Three ACU volleyball players earned Player of the Week honors as announced by the Lone Star Conference office on Wednesday. Kalynne Allen, Shawna Hines and IJ Moronu picked up honors giving the Wildcats a sweep of weekly awards.
Allen, a sophomore from New Braunfels, picked up honors after having an outstanding tournament at the St. Edward's Classic earning MVP accolades. Allen hit .304 with 38 kills while adding eight blocks. She had two stellar matches recording double-doubles against two MIAA teams Northwest Missouri State and Missouri Southern. Against the Bearcats she had 14 kills and 13 digs hitting .458 while adding 13 more kills and 11 digs against the Lions hitting over .400 again.
An all-America, Hines moved up the ACU record books to third and is just 12 blocks behind second place on the all-time list after adding 18 more blocks on the weekend. Hines was not only solid defensively, but led the Wildcats offensively as well hitting a team high .398 while adding 39 kills both team highs. Hines hit below .400 only once in four games and twice had double digit kills against Northwest Missouri and Missouri Southern.
Moronu a senior put together one of her better weekends in an already outstanding career. Moronu not only ran the ACU offense to the tune of 149 assists, but lead the Wildcats defensively with 51 digs. She also added 12 blocks as she was one of three Wildcats in double digits.
The Wildcats return to the court tonight for their LSC opener at Angelo State. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
