Softball Hosts Rival Angelo St.

ABILENE – ACU continues their home stretch as they host Angelo State Friday and Saturday at Wells Field. The Lone Star Conference series will open with a doubleheader Friday and finish with a single game on Saturday.

In the program's 14th season the Wildcats have already lost 22 games, the ninth time in 14 seasons that ACU has lost at least that many games in a season. ... In four of those seasons, however, the Wildcats have posted a winning record. ... With 14 games remaining on the regular-season schedule, ACU will have to go 11-3 the rest of the way just to have a winning regular-season record. ... The Wildcats picked up their first Division win at Texas A&M-Kingsville last weekend taking 1 of 3 … On Tuesday ACU hosted St. Mary's in a non-conference twin bill, who like the Wildcats began the season in the NFCA top 25, but have also since dropped out … The Wildcats split the doubleheader taking game one 12-8 before losing game two in extra innings 4-5

SERIES HISTORY
Angelo State leads the series 26-8 … The Wildcats have had trouble with their South Division rival in the past, however, they have managed to pick up at least one win the series the last two years … The Rambells have been the Wildcats nemesis during the postseason as the two teams have met in the LSC Championship game the past two seasons … ACU is also 0-4 all-time against ASU in the LSC Tournament

Stealing Records
During ACU's LSC series at Texas A&M-Kingsville, junior shortstop Shawna Barrow became the Wildcats' leader in career stolen bases as she swiped four bases to leave the series with 36. ... She's already broken Leisha Johnson's single-season record of 23 in 2008, and now the 36 stolen bases breaks Johnson's record of 32 from 2007-08

UP NEXT
ACU will make a short trip to Stephenville for a three game LSC South Division series with Tarleton State. The Wildcats and TexAnns will play a doubleheader Friday night before finishing the series with a single game on Saturday before returning for a five game home stand.
