ACU Softball Heads South

ABILENE – ACU softball hits the road again this weekend traveling to San Antonio for a doubleheader with St. Mary's on Saturday and a twin bill with St. Edward's on Sunday.

The Wildcats will again be looking to move above .500 after splitting their series with Midwestern State on Thursday. Freshmen Shelby Hall was solid again earning the win as she scattered eight hits over seven innings while only allowing two runs. Hall has been solid all season in the circle despite a 3-3 record and has worked her way to the top of the Wildcats rotation.

At the plate ACU is hitting .321 as a team, but have not been on the lucky end of some hard hit balls. A trio of Wildcats lead the team with seven RBI as Missy Mendoza continues to hit at a .500 clip. Shawna Barrow has put together a seven-game hitting streak one behind Mendoza's season long eight.

ACU fell to St. Mary's last weekend, 8-1 in the CBS Insurance Classic. The Wildcats last saw St. Edward's in the 2008 South Central Region tournament. The Hilltoppers ended the Wildcats' season handing ACU both losses and sending them home with a 2-1 loss in the regional championship game.

Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. while Sunday's doubleheader will have a 12 p.m. start.
