ABILENE -- ACU's weekend Lone Star Conference baseball series against West Texas A&M in Canyon has been cancelled because of poor field conditions at The Dilla Villa and the threat of inclement weather in the Panhandle area.
The No. 8 Wildcats (10-2 overall and 6-2 in the LSC) and Bufffaloes (1-5 overall and 0-5 in the LSC) were scheduled to have played four games with doubleheaders scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday.
Instead, the games between the league's defending champion in ACU and a squad that won six LSC games last year was wiped out. The series will not be made up, which at the moment will leave the Wildcats with only 40 league games.
ACU will instead be in Arkansas this weekend trying to get games in at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark. The Wildcats will play Henderson State at noon Saturday, followed by a 3 p.m. game against NAIA member Texas College.
The Wildcats will try to get two more games in beginning Sunday morning before returning to Abilene. ACU will be back in action at home Tuesday with a 3:35 p.m. game against St. Edward's.
