INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The first NCAA Regional polls were released today and the ACU volleyball squad opened at No. 5. ACU is looking for their first regional bid since 2006 in Kellen Mock's first season.
After being left out of the NCAA tournament the last two seasons despite posting a 55-15 record the Wildcats sit in a good position at No. 5 in the first set of rankings. The top eight teams from each region earn a big to the NCAA tournament in November.
Central Missouri holds the top spot followed by Truman and Washburn. Emporia State, who the Wildcats beat in early October, sits one spot ahead of ACU at No. 4.
Rounding out the top 10 behind the Wildcats is a trio of teams ACU holds wins over. Northwest Missouri State is at No. 6 with Nebraska-Omaha at No. 7 and Angelo State at No. 8. West Texas A&M sits one spot out of the regional top eight at No. 9 as Central Oklahoma rounds out the top 10.
ACU is in action at home this weekend as they host East Central in a "Dig Pink" match for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Saturday the Wildcats host Southeastern Oklahoma with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
