ABILENE -- The ACU?Wildcats are back on the field Saturday night for another non-conference game,
.this time against the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis College out of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Shotwell Stadium.
The Wildcats moved up from No. 5 in the nation to No. 3 after last week's 19-14 win over then-No. 2 Northwest Missouri State. ACU?jumped out to a 16-0 halftime lead and that stood up as the Wildcats won the first game to be nationally broadcast from Shotwell Stadium.
While the ACU?offense sputtered last week (gaining just 174 yards of total offense), the ACU?defense stood up and won the game for the Wildcats. Linebacker
Arthur Johnson was named the Lone Star Conference South Division co-Defensive Player of the Week after scoring on a 42-yard fumble return and leading the team with seven tackles.
Sophomore defensive end
Aston Whiteside registered 1.5 sacks and 2.0 tackles for loss, one quarterback hurry and one forced fumble and was a menacing presence the entire night. His sack of Northwest Missouri State quarterback Blake Bolles on fourth-and-10 with less than three minutes to play sealed the win for ACU.
The win was the 11th straight regular-season victory for the Wildcats, the longest streak of that kind in school history.
