Wildcats Win 3-1 to End Regular Season

ABILENE – Wildcats close out regular season with 3-1 win over Tarleton State on Saturday at Moody Coliseum. Behind another great performance from junior Shawna Hines helped ACU close out the season with 15 straight wins.

The Wildcats (27-5, 12-1) started off the match just as they finished Thursday winning the first set 25-12. However, in the second set some costly errors allowed TSU to slip by 25-22. That was all the TexAnns could muster as the Wildcats continued dominating the net winning the final two sets 25-21, and 25-22.

Hines who has dominated the Lone Star Conference and Division II all season recorded four more blocks and a game high 15 kills. Hines also hit .560 in the game as she converted 15 of 25 attempts.

ACU had four players with double digit kills as Jennie Hutt, and Lauren Leone had 11 kills and Jordan Schilling finished with 10.

The Wildcats finished the season on a 15 game win streak and an undefeated home regular season. Also dating back to 2008 the Wildcats have now won 17 in a row inside Moody Coliseum.

The next opponent will be determined later this weekend as LSC play wraps up the regular season. ACU will more than likely head into the LSC tournament as the No. 2 seed behind West Texas A&M.

Also finishing out the season will help the Wildcats improve their regional rankings as they entered the final week of the season ranked No. 7. The top eight teams will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament as that announcement will be made November 12.
