ABILENE -- Central Oklahoma continued to pile up runs and hits in the Lone Star Conference Post-Season Tournament on Sunday as the fifth-seeded Bronchos knocked off Cameron, 12-6, to remain unbeaten in the tournament at Crutcher Scott Field.
The Bronchos (36-21) will play again Monday at 7 p.m. against the winner of Monday's 11 a.m. game between Texas A&M-Kingsville and Cameron. The 3 p.m. game Monday pits the hosts from Abilene Christian against Southeastern Oklahoma State. ACU eliminated the defending champion Angelo State Rams earlier Sunday (4-2) and Southeastern Oklahoma State beat Kingsville, 3-0, in the 3 p.m. game Sunday.
Cameron jumped on top 4-1 through three innings, but then the Broncho bats came to life as UCO scored four runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to grab an 8-4 advantage. The Bronchos had eight hits in those two innings, inclouding a two-run single by Miguel Moctezuma in the fourth inning that gave his team a 5-4 lead.
Michael Polloack, Ryan Schoonover and Brian Covington each had RBIs in the three-run fifth as the Bronchos took a lead they would not relinquish. Dean McIntyre went 8 2/3 innings to pick up the win, improving to 4-4 on the season. He scattered 10 hits and two walks over the 8 2/3 innings and struck out seven Aggies en route to the victory.
