Wildcats roll to 17th straight win
ACU improves to 17-3 with 3-0 win over St. Edward's
AUSTIN -- ACU senior middle blocker Amanda Slate had 21 kills and five service aces and senior outside hitter Michelle Bernhardt added 15 kills Tuesday night as the Wildcats swept past St. Edward's, 3-0, in a non-conference volleyball match at the Recreation and Convocation Center.
The Wildcats rolled to a 30-17, 30-22, 30-21 win over the Lady Hilltoppers that took just 80 minutes in front of 180 fans.
The win pushes ACU's school-record winning streak to 17 straight matches as the 14th-ranked Wildcats improved to 17-3 on the season. ACU has won nine straight matches and 12 of its last 13 matches by 3-0 scores. The last team to win one game from the Wildcats was Central Oklahoma in a 3-1 ACU win over the Bronchos on Sept. 16 in the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament in Abilene.
ACU will put its winning streak on the line this weekend when it returns to action at the second LSC Crossover Tournament, this time in Denton. The Wildcats will play Cameron at 1 p.m. Friday, followed by a 7 p.m. match against Southwestern Oklahoma State. ACU will finish up the tournament Saturday with a 3 p.m. match against Texas Woman's.

Slate -- named the LSC South Division Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday -- hit .576 in the match, while Ashlee Motola hit .500 (9 kills, one error on 16 attacks). Lindsey Martin led the Wildcats with 45 assists, while Bernhardt had 15 digs and Malia Plumlee 14.
