Wildcats sweep weekend matches
ACU has little trouble with Commerce, SE Oklahoma State
ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats had little trouble with two of the Lone Star Conference's cellar-dwellers over the weekend as they swept both Texas A&M-Commerce and Southeastern Oklahoma State to run their winning streak to four matches.
ACU beat Commerce 30-17, 30-18, 30-12 on Friday, then bounced back Saturday afternoon to destroy SE Oklahoma State, 30-20, 30-17, 30-8. ACU is now 10-5 on the season with three matches coming up this weekend at the LSC Crossover Tournament at Moody Coliseum, including a Friday night match against Central Oklahoma, which will enter the tournament with a 10-5 record, including a three-game last Saturday over West Texas A&M.
In ACU's win over Commerce, the Wildcats hit .265 to the Lady Lions' -.084 and were led by Michelle Bernhardt's 12 kills. Ashlee Motola, Callie Delabano and Amanda Slate each had eight kills in the match, while Lindsey Martin had 36 assists.
In Saturday's win over the Lady Savages, Delabano had 14 kills and Bernhardt added 13 and 15 digs to lead the Wildcats. ACU hit .274 in the match to Southeastern's -.074.
