DALLAS -- ACU's doubleheader against Dallas Baptist was rained out Saturday,
a victim of the heavy thunderstorms that swept through the Metroplex during
the early afternoon.
The Wildcats, 33-12 overall and ranked third in the South Central region
and 15th in the nation, will return to action Tuesday at Crutcher Scott
Field when it hosts St. Edward's. The first game of the doubleheader is
scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
ACU got no help from either Tarleton State or West Texas A&M in its
pursuit of its third straight Lone Star Conference South Division crown.
The Wildcats could have clinched the LSC South title and the right to host
the LSC post-season tournament this weekend if TSU and WTAM had each lost
a game.
However, Tarleton State swept Texas A&M-Kingsville to improve to
12-9 in LSC play. West Texas A&M beat Eastern New Mexico Friday night
to improve to 11-9. That's where the Buffs will finish LSC play because
Saturday's scheduled doubleheader was rained out.
ACU is in first place at 14-6 and needs only a single win next weekedn
at Texas A&M-Kingsville or a Tarleton State loss at Eastern New Mexico
to clinch the title. Tarleton State must win two of three at ENMU to earn
the No. 2 seed from the South. If the Greyhounds win two of three from the
Texans, the Buffs would earn the No. 2 seed.
The LSC post-season tournament will be played April 25-27 at the home
of the LSC South Division champion.
