ACU falls to ASU

Wildcats fall to Rambelles

ACU drops five-game match at Angelo State

SAN ANGELO -- ACU's two-match winning streak came to a sudden stop Tuesday night in a five-game loss to Angelo State in a Lone Star Conference South Division match at the Junell Center on the ASU campus.

The Rambelles won the match, 30-27, 30-26, 28-30, 26-30, 15-12, to pick up their first LSC win of the season against four losses.  ACU, meanwhile, falls to 9-8 overall and 2-3 in the LSC South.

After dropping the first two games of the match, the Wildcats stormed back in games 3 and 4, hitting .271 and .286, respectively, to even the match at two games apiece.  ACU, though, could not sustain that momentum as it hit .000 (seven kills and seven errors on 23 total attacks) in the fifth-and-deciding game.

Angelo State, meanwhile, hit .250 in the fifth game to pick up the win in the match.

ACU was led by freshman outside hitter Michelle Bernhardt, who had a match-high 23 kills on 60 attacks. Junior outside hitter Haylee Hartline had 19 kills, while sophomore Sophia Kindred had a career-best 14 kills.

ACU will return to action this weekend with three matches at the LSC Crossover Tournament at Angelo State.  ACU is undefeated (9-0) in three previous crossover tournament appearances.
