In front of the largest crowd to ever witness a Lone Star Conference football game (18500) No. 1-ranked Texas A&I rallies at home for 25 fourth-quarter points to force a 25-25 tie against No. 2 Abilene Christian. The Wildcats lead 25-0 early in the fourth quarter only to see the Javelinas roar back for the tying points late in the contest. The only consolation for coach Dewitt Jones' team is that the tie snaps Kingsville's 42-game winning streak and sets the stage for ACU's run to the NAIA Division I national championship.
