Robby Pickett joined the coaching staff of ACU men's golf in September 2023. He came to ACU after serving as head coach of men's and women's golf at Thomas More University in 2022-23. He held the same position the season before at Lake Erie College. He also served as an assistant coach at Denison University and was a graduate assistant at Ohio Dominican University.
"It is with great excitement that we introduce Robby Pickett as our new men's assistant golf coach. He comes with a wealth of experience as both an assistant and a head coach," ACU head men's golf coach Tom Shaw said. "Robby also is an excellent player, having qualified for the USGA Mid-Amateur championship.
The Wildcats recorded four top-five finishes across the 2023-24 campaign, three of which came in their final four tournaments of the season. ACU came in fifth place amongst 11 teams at the WAC Championship in Payson, Ariz. as Trenton Johnson and Charlie Jackson each tied for 14th. ACU engineered a second-place showing at The Big Texan thanks to Zane Heusel's tie for fifth and followed it with a third-place performance at the Kosati Pines Intercollegiate. The Wildcats wrapped up their fall campaign in third at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate.
"Robby has an extensive skill set beyond his college coaching experience, with certification in the mental game, USGA rules and the Titleist Performance Institute. He also has vast experience caddying for elite players, so he will impact our student-athletes immediately with his on-course presence. We look forward to welcoming Robby and his wife, Ali, to the ACU campus soon."
Pickett finished his senior season at Allegheny College with a 74.1 scoring average – the third-best in program history. He was 2016 AC Male Athlete of the Year, a first-team All North Coast Athletic Conference honoree and was selected for the 2016 NCAA Great Lakes All-Region team. He received his bachelor's degree from AC in 2016 and his MBA from Ohio Dominican in 2019.
He is married to ACU women's golf assistant coach Ali Green.
