Make-A-Wish Foundation
The Division II National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee led the NCAA in 2003 with its first national community service initiative by embarking upon a fundraiser with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. This initiative began in 2003 when the Division II national SAAC set a goal to raise $5,000. With the support of the Division II membership over $48,000 was raised during their Inaugural year. This national fundraiser supports one of the NCAA core values: the role that intercollegiate athletics plays in the higher education mission and in enhancing the sense of community and strengthening the identity of member institutions. Over the years, the Division II SAAC has collected more than $1.5 million, constituting one of the largest grass-roots contributions to Make-A-Wish.
The ACU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee have made the commitment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to become Wishmakers on Campus. This commitment is an opportunity to contribute some of their time and energy to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. This commitment to fulfill a wish for a local child is an incredible opportunity for ACU to impact its community.
