2011-12 (junior): Indoors he got the first two 5k scores of his career in the heptathlon with 5,174 to win LSC invitational in Lubbock and 5,032 to place seventh at NCAA championships in Mankato. His best running event performances were 6.86 in 55, 7.26 in 60, 2:42.28 in 1000, 8.39 in 55 hurdles, and 9.04 in 60 hurdles. He had in field events 15-5 (4.70) in pole vault to pace Wildcats, 6-3.5 (1.92) in high jump, 21-3.25 (6.48) in long jump and 39-11.25 (12.17) in shot put. Last spring he became league’s first repeat winner in decathlon and is bidding for third title in 2013 in 10th year of the LSC decathlon. Also could become only 11th ACU decathlete to score at least 7,000 (latest was Camille Vandendriessche in 2007, 2008 and 2009 as 10th Wildcat over 7k). Named to LSC all-academic team in 2012 track and field. Also all-South Central Region as selected by coaches association. He won LSC title in Commerce with 6,700w. Turned in PR score of 6,845w (PR score of 3,563 first day, PR score of 3,282 second day) to win ASU spring break multis March 14-15 in San Angelo and also finished with 6,576w for non-scoring ninth in windy Pueblo in first appearance in NCAA outdoor championships. His best times in running events were 11.28 (3.7) in 100, 50.65 in 400, 4:26.09 in 1500, and 15.94 (0.7) in 110 hurdles. In field events he had 6-1.25 (1.86) in high jump, 14-10.25 (4.53) to lead ACU in vault, 21-5 (6.54) (2.1) in long jump, 40-0 (12.19) in shot put, 107-5 (32.75) in discus throw, and 179-7 (54.74) in javelin throw.
2010-11 (sophomore): Won LSC title in decathlon as soph with 6,236W in Stephenville. He won only the LJ at 21-1.25 (3.3) and came from second place after first day to take the victory, ACU’s third in eight years of the LSC decathlon (Wildcats’ other winners were Chris Pounds in 2007 at 7,056w and Andy Henson in 2009 at 6,056w). Season best score was 6,417w in San Angelo for NCAA provisional mark, but did not qualify for national meet. Best outdoor marks were 11.28w (6.1) in 100, 52.99 in 400, 4:48.58 in 1500, and 16.04 (1.8) in 110 hurdles for running events. Field event bests outdoors were 6-1.5 in high jump, 14-3.25 in vault, 22-2w (2.4) in long jump, 38-11 in shot, 106-10 in discus, and 178-8 to lead ACU in javelin.
Scored 3,856 points in indoor heptathlon at Texas Tech with NH in vault. During indoor season had top marks in running events of 6.88 in 55, 24.44 in 200, 52.63 in 400, 2:50.18 in 1000, 8.71 in 55 hurdles, and 9.21 in 60 hurdles. In field events turned in 6-0 in high jump, 14-7.25 in vault, 19-7.5 in long jump, and 36-9.5 in shot.
2009-10 (freshman): Scored 4,605 in only indoor heptathlon at New Mexico. In outdoor competition, he placed third in LSC decathlon with 6,041 in San Angelo after 11.64, 6.22, 10.64, 1.72 and 53.46 on first day and second-day marks of 16.82, 29.86, 4.44, 42.39 and 4:51.90. Top marks in open events included 5-8.5 in high jump at McMurry and 150-7 in javelin at Oliver Jackson Classic.
2008-09 (freshman): Redshirt year at ACU.
High School: Competed in basketball, football, tennis, golf, and track and field. All-state in basketball, academic all-state in football, state qualifier in track and field in 4x400 relay.
Personal: 2008 graduate of White Deer High School. Born 18 Dec 1989. Sister was intercollegiate athlete (basketball at West Texas A&M).
