Biography

Coach Campbell believes Byerly could be one of the top performers for ACU this year after a strong junior year.  Last year Byerly had his best tournament at the St. Edward’s Spring Invitational, where he finished the 54-hole tournament tied for 10th with a score of 230.  He also shot a third-round 70, his personal season best, at the Lone Star Conference Tournament. That final round score helped him finish tied for 13th for that tournament.  Byerly enjoyed a fine sophomore season in 2005. He had the team’s best scoring average (74.4) in 19 rounds, and he qualified individually for the NCAA Division II South Central Region tournament where he finished tied for 14th.  He won the individual title at the St. Andrews Invitational in March of 2005, carding rounds of 70-74 for a 144 total.  He went on to finish fourth at the LSC Tournament, carding a three-round total of 216 (71-74-71).  Transferred to ACU from Adams State where he enjoyed a spectacular freshman season in 2004, earning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Freshman of the Year and all-conference honors.  At the RMAC tournament, he finished third with a three-round total of 216, including a final-round 69.  As a high school player, Byerly was a two-time all-district player at Keller HS.  He earned first team honors as a senior in 2003 after earning second team honors as a junior in 2002.  Born 02 July 1985.  2003 graduate of Keller High School.
