CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Five Abilene Christian women's golf student-athletes earned a spot on the 2024-25 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team, the organization announced on Monday.
Ryann Honea, Sydney Williams, Kate Pickrell, Julia Vollmer and Marissa Loya received the honor in recognition of their academic and athletic achievements across the 2024-25 campaign. Honea, Williams and Pickrell landed on the team for the second season in a row as each golfer also garnered spring Academic All-Western Athletic Conference distinction.
"I am so proud of these five young women for showing that excellence can be achieved in all areas of life," head coach Rob Bennett said. "We have high expectations on our team for both excellence on the course and excellence in the classroom, and I am truly grateful to be able to coach a team full of true student-athletes."
This year's All-American Scholar Team featured 1,499 women's golf student-athletes across 403 programs. Eligible student-athletes must carry an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in at least 50% of their team's regularly scheduled competitive rounds.
Honea built upon a junior campaign with numerous accolades, including Academic All-District honors by College Sports Communicators. The WAC Co-Golfer of the Year was named an Academic All-American finalist after graduating in May with her Bachelor's degree in information systems in three years with a 3.86 undergraduate GPA. Honea is pursuing her Master's in healthcare administration, holding a 4.0 GPA.
On the course, Honea earned her second consecutive All-WAC First Team nod and was the individual runner-up at the WAC Championship. She qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the second season in a row with a trip to the NCAA Lubbock Regional.
Williams joined Honea in capturing CSC Academic All-District recognition while walking the graduation stage in May, earning her Bachelor's in art with a 3.77 GPA. A back-to-back Academic All-WAC student-athlete, Williams was the Wildcats' lone senior and competed in 10 of 11 tournaments.
Pickrell completed her sophomore season with both WGCA All-American Scholar and Academic All-WAC distinction for the second year in a row. She holds a 3.77 GPA in pursuit of her Bachelor's in finance while appearing in eight tournaments for ACU, headlined by a career-best tie for fourth place at the West Texas Classic.
San Antonio products Vollmer and Loya each produced strong freshman seasons in their first years on campus. Vollmer logged five top-25 showings, including a tie for ninth place at the Red Raider Invitational in her second tournament at the college level. She is a communication major with a 3.80 GPA.
Loya produced five top-20 efforts, featuring an individual tie for fourth at the Tulsa Cup and a tie for sixth at the WAC Championship to close out the season. She is studying ministry and vocation and holds a 3.90 GPA.
